Look where your name is (by default on the right) and Look below it. It should say "Enter Mission"

^It's always better to follow the storyline. Check here for mission sequence.

A little tip : In Prophecy (the "first" guild wars), no mission is nescessary, you can skip all on them (accept 4 plus the final one, ok ok...).
And in prophecy, no mission will trigger anything. The 4 non-skipable missions will only teleport you in a town you cant go otherwise, that's all.
In the others game that may not be exact for every mission.

My guess is that some people skip Prophecies missions when bringing characters over from another campaign so they can get to wherever they want to go for the max armor they want or to cap elites. It's just a guess though.

^Understood. But we were referring to a Prophecies-born character....at least I was.

It doesn't really matter in which order you complete missions or even skip some. You can later do them again. Only for the storyline it is best for you to do them in right order. With other characters you might want to skip some. I did Fort Ranik before Great Northern Wall as well. And Borlis Pass before Nolani Academy. Along with a few others. It doesn't change anything for your character. The only things that change are the facts that you've completed them and that there are no more annoying pinging pins on you map.

if this is your first character, don't skip the missions. you miss out on a lot of the storyline and gorgeous scenery. once you do the whole thing once or twice most people don't want to repeat the non-essentials and rush through as mentioned above.
